I love San Antonio!

August 20th, I ran longer than as usual, 10km ,because of lots of meal last night. A asked Dr. Quinones to change my schedule to vist Hospital instead of sightseeing. He kindly contacted Drs. Zarate to arrange visiting Nix Medical Center. Dr.M and Nrs. K&Y wanted to accompany with me, our party became four members.

First, we visited Dr Zarate's clinic. The clinic was very elegant. A lady Dr. Zarate is Japanese American, she speaks Japanese very well. She explained her activity and system in all sincerity and got permission to see everywhere in this Hospital for us.



We could have oppotunities to see Intensive Care unit, Post anesthetic area, maternity ward, senior dementia patients floor, hyperbaric therapy area and so on. The staff explained us in detail. We were very satisfied.


Farewell Dinner hosted by Bexar County Medical Society was held at Oak Hill County Club.

I took my seat at the table together with Dr. M, Dr.San Martin, Dr.& Mr. Engelsgjerd, Dr.& Mrs. Gordon. We talked to each other and enjoyed dinner. Our delegation performed singging "Amaging Grace" ,"Hinokuni Ryojou" and dancing "Yoheho (Yamaga Tourou)"


We practiced a few times singging and dancing but always very serious. "No pain, no gain" was true. We were very happy and promised to see again in next year.




Dr.M and I stayed Mrs. Hiroko Fay's House. Her husband Mike was very sick, however, I talked with him and he was very warmly. (I received E-mail about his death Augst 24th, I pray his soul may rest in peace.)
I made the sofa to my bed and slept intermittently. Hiroko cooked lunch for us.

Early next morning we woke up 4:30 and went to San Antonio International Air port., because UA Fright 263 left for San Francisco 7:23.
Dr. M and I could back to Kumamoto uneventfully. My blog in English version should be finished now. Thank you very much for your visiting my blog.

Our shedule on August 17&18

On August 17th, our deiligation visted to Bexar County Medical Society Office.

Ms. Natsuko , she is a pharmacist, and I visited to the Dr. Quinones's medical Office. I learned the electric medical record system and its advantage and disadvantage, and its problem. She was in the department of pharmacy and learned a lot of things in a few hours. Kotaro, he is a high school student, visited with us, he was listening to our discussion.

After lunch, excellent Mexican food, we visited the Methodist Hospital to see the ER and pre anesthesia area.

In the evening we had a Formal Welcome Dinner hosted by City of San Antonio and BCMS. We had wonderful time of exchanging program at Plaza Club. I met Dr. and Mrs. Grey and Johnes. I had not seen them since 6 years ago. I had a good talking with other members and enjoyed very much.

On August 18th, we visted the City Hall and met the representation of Mayor, and had a short recture of San Antonio. Then after we went to Dep. of Community Initiatives, and had a short recture about care for homeless people.

Today's lunch is Mexican too. The volume was very Texas size, however, I ate all of them.

After lunch, we visited the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District. We discussed about Immunization and food sanitation/safty.

Dr. Tashima and his daugther, two Nurses (K & Y), and Mrs. N and I were invited by Dr. and Mrs Henkes. Their four family members, Dr. and Mrs Humphreys and their daughter, Drs. Koli and our group total 15 people gathered at Dr. Henkes's big house. We enjoyed dinner ,a littlte alcohol and singing several songs.
I thought I had a good conversation with them.

The longest day

August 17th was the longest day in this year for me, becouse I had 38hours today. Alhough Kumamoto and Nagoya international Airport were very crowded due to the end of last summer holiday season, our group left for US sucssesfully.

When I arrived at San Francisco International Air port, I called to my wife. My call reached to her , but she felt bad because it was 2 o'clock AM.

At San Antonio International Airport, Bexar county medical society members were waiting for us with Mexican music band (four members 10 to 15 years old).

After we walked along the River Walk, enjoyed Italyan-mexican food.

いざアメリカへ

明日米国に向け出発。1週間外来に出ないので、盆期間を含め外来患者さんが多かった。Ｋ高の周りの花や近所の花もかなり分かってきたが、面白い花・実があった。

先ず、照る照る坊主をひっくり返したような白い花と、柔らかい風船のような実？のある花。ネットで調べると、「晩秋になると、実がカパッと割れ、中から綿毛とタネが出てくる。 おもしろい♪ ・花言葉は「隠された能力」（風船唐綿の花） 「いっぱいの夢」（風船唐綿の実） 」

黄色いケイトウがあるご近所さんの家。ネットには、「ケイトウは鶏頭と書き、夏の花には欠かせない。花と思われている部分は、茎の上部が変形してトサカ状になったもの。花序の形態によって、大きく３つに分けられ、トサカケイトウは扁平な形、ヤリゲイトウ（写真）は槍状、フサゲイトウは羽毛状で、中間型もある」とか。

しばらく病院の売店とのお別れなので、おにぎりと冷やし中華を買って昼食にした。歓迎会でいつも歌を披露する。毎回｢火の国旅情｣だが、今回は加えて｢アメイジング・グレイス｣を英語で歌う。今からＣＤ買いに行って録音をし、訪問団一行と練習しよう。

出来はどうなるだろうか？多分受けると思うのだが・・・　　兎に角、一生懸命準備する。

ニンニクの効果

友人からメールがきた。「ところでブログ見ました。 ニンニクとゴーヤ、豚肉、人参、えのき、玉葱をごま油で炒め、塩・胡椒とチャンブルの素で味付けし、しょうゆで隠し味の料理、元気つきましたか？ 」
それはもちろん！と答えた。天草産のニンニクは大きく美味しく、一昨日の夜はてんぷらにして食べた。スライスしないとなかなか火が通らない（柔らかくならない）と家人が言った。ニンニクのおかげで、数日サボっていた早朝トレーニングを再会した。昨夜はカレーに大きなひとかけらを入れ、圧力釜で煮込んでもらった。朝だけでは足らずに夕も走っている・・。多分二日坊主・・・

さてＫ高周りの植物を観察すると、実の生る植物も多い。上の写真はカラスウリの花と実。
左はゴンズイ。果実はミカンの房状の袋果。9月半ばには、赤く熟して裂け、中から黒い光沢のある種子が、1～2個現れるという。9月になるのを楽しみにしよう。

これは、洋種ヤマゴボウ。
次第に実は黒紫に色が変わり、茎も紫色になる。黒紫の実はつぶして子供達が遊びに使うそうだ(何の？）。　ゴボウ（牛蒡）という名前だからといって食べてはダメ！！根は有毒！！

いつもは田んぼになるのだが、今年はとうもろこしが植えてある。バイオ燃料？飼料が高騰しているから？

道端のアサガオ。葉っぱは傷ついているが早朝ジョグ時の目を楽しませてくれる。

明後日からサン・アントニオに行くが、珍しい写真を撮ってこよう。

花オンチが次第に治ってきているので、新たな目で異国を見る事ができるだろう。しかし本当の目的は米国の医療事情視察、そしてＢｅｘａｒ　Ｃｏｕｎｔｙ　Ｍｅｄｉｃａｌ　Ｓｏｃｉｅｔｙとの交流。

二つの例会

8月10日熊本むさしY's Men's Clubの納涼例会＆リーダー感謝会が開催された。
会場のむさしＹＭＣＡのホールにはむさしクラブの活動の記録や、これまでに表彰を受けた盾などが飾らた。これまでのむさしクラブの活動・軌跡が一目瞭然で、ビジターの皆さんも興味深く見てくださった。
今回の司会を務めるイワチャンがワイズメンズクラブのことを上手く説明してくれた。ひょっとしたら展示のアイデアはイワチャンの機転か？

今期の今○会長は、バカンス・プロジェクトという旅行会社にお勤めで、私の出張や個人的な旅行ではいつもお世話になっている。
会長挨拶も、こなす度に上手になってきた。さすがだ。

会の最後に記念撮影をした。むさしクラブは28名のメンバーだが、60名位参加したようだ。ここには54名写っているが、何とか２００％例会を達成した。岡○さん（むさしＹＭＣＡ館長）が機転を利かせて、誕生月毎や血液型毎でテーブルをシャッフルしてくれたので、参加者ほぼ全員と交流・会話することができた。素晴らしいファシリテーターだ。このような会の持ち方では参考になる。

そして8月12日目下設立に向けて準備中の熊本にしクラブの第2回仮例会が熊本全日空ホテルニュースカイで開催された。
むさしクラブに入会して4ヶ月目の水○さんが仮会長。すっかり馴染んで堂々の挨拶。異業種19名が参加し、吉本熊本ＹＭＣＡ理事長、イワチャン、かめちゃん、そして私が｢ワイズメンズクラブに入会して良かったこと、得たこと｣と題してスピーチをした。それぞれ15分の時間配分であったが、イワチャンは25分しゃべっていた。まっつ　良いか・・・
9月23日は水○さん宅で第3回仮例会を予定している。ＢＢＱをしながら夢を語り合おうと思う。

独身貴族

家人が旅行に出かけ10日目になった。昨日やっと料理を作った。娘から生ごみが出るから・・・と言われて自重していたが、うちの看護師さんから天草産の大きなニンニクをいただいたので、夏ばて対策にニンニクとともにゴーヤ、豚肉、人参、えのき、玉葱をごま油で炒め、塩・胡椒とチャンブルの素で味付けし、しょうゆで隠し味？をつけた料理をつくった。匂いは仕方ないとして、なんだか元気が付く。残りを弁当のおかずにして病院で食べた。
ゴーヤと言えば、ご近所さんが畑で栽培している。花は黄色で小さく可愛いのだが、中央部が少しずつふくらみゴーヤらしくなってくる。

7月29日から8月8日までが世に言う独身貴族である。今日7日までの10日間のうち走ったのが9勝1敗（8月4日医師会の部会で飲んだのは良かったが目が覚めたら朝の5時で医局の机の前で寝ていたので8月5日は走らず）、夕食を家で食べたのが3勝6敗（1敗は当直で5敗は外食飲み会付き）だった。 体重を保つのに苦労した。
8月5日は大邱ＹＭＣＡ少年サッカー団の団長さん（ＳＵＨさんはむさしクラブの兄弟クラブである琴湖クラブのメンバー）、スタッフ、学生リーダー3人の歓迎会を熊本ＹＭＣＡのスタッフとした。久しぶり（1週間ぶり）にプラス１に行って歌った。竹島問題が日韓交流に支障をきたしているが、ＹＭＣＡの交流は順調に行われている。

朝も程よく走っている。最近写した写真、サルスベリの木と花、ケイトウ、日日草（ニチニチソウ）。　「花　夏　赤」でインターネットで検索すると写真つきで花の紹介をしてくれるサイトがある。

病院の救急医療の指針をまとめ、現状を報告しなければならない。ルーチンワーク（外来・病棟・手術室）以外の仕事も途絶えることがない。仕事が忙しいほど夜も忙しい・・・などとぼやいているが午後7時近くになると気合が入るのは何故？明日から北京オリンピックが始る。
